Hello,
I'm not sure if anyone still visits this here little ol' website, but if you see this, please take the time to vote for us in The Knot - Real Wedding Awards. Click the link and yes, you do have to register to vote, but do it anyway because you love us!
It's been a whirlwind since October with holidays, engagements, etc., but I just wanted to say hello, thanks for everything, and, yay! we're married! :) This site will likely stay active, but will feature our adventures in "restovating" our Cliff May rancho, so stay tuned!
What: Rachel & Ephraim's Wedding
When: Saturday, October 20, 2007
Ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m.; Reception immediately following
Where: The Prado, Balboa Park
San Diego, California
Details: Plan to arrive 30 minutes early (10 a.m.) to give yourself time to park and walk to The Prado. There is also valet parking available at The Prado. See the "Guest Info" tab at top.
We are so excited to see you all and can't wait for Saturday to come! Feel free to call us or our parents for any other questions you may have.
...and still so much to do! But I know it will all get done. Thank you to all our friends and family that have helped us through this wedding planning process (especially sister and bridesmaids!). We're almost there.
I'm pretty happy to say that most of our RSVP cards came back with ease. We (or our parents) will be calling you if you haven't replied so that we can turn in final numbers this week and next. So, if you have any changes (who's coming, what you want to eat, etc.), speak now or forever hold your peace!
Can't wait to see you all in less than 2 weeks!
Eph and I are big-time foodies, so we want you to make an informed decision regarding your entree selection. Check out our menu at http://ephraimandrachel.com/2007/08/menu.asp before you send in your response card to ensure your culinary satisfaction :)
Also, I feel like a third grade teacher saying this, but please remember to write your name (and the names of all those in your party) on the response card. Otherwise, you might find yourself without a place setting at the wedding of the century! (If those in your party would like different selections, it would be most helpful if you used initials to indicate entree choice.)
And on that note, a special shout out to Ted, our official first RSVP! Just one day after he received the invite, we saw his response card in our mail (though it only had to travel down the 605 heading south from Pasadena). Either way, would be lovely if everyone followed Ted's example of a perfect response card. A+, Ted!
Keep an eye on those mailboxes! And please, if you have changed your mailing address in the last 6 months, do send us an email with your updated contact information. Thank you!
You may recall my boss Anjanette for her involvement in "The Story" (see "The Story" tab). As a newlywed herself, she is a wealth of knowledge about the planning process, etc. - as is my next door office neighbor Nichole. Nichole is always willing to write me a big reality check when I come up with some nutso pie-in-the-sky idea that would put me and Eph in debt for the rest of our lives. ...I always wanted my name spelled out in the sky in fireworks (like Annie!) *sigh*... But I digress.
One day, Anj shared with me a tip that was both productive for the wedding and my bank account. She told me that whenever I felt like shopping, I should just go to one of our registry stores (see "Our Registries" link under "Guest Info" tab), check out a scanning gun and zap away! It's like shopping without a price tag. So today, I did just that. I went to South Coast Plaza - a dangerous place indeed for shopaholics like me - and visited Macy's Home store to update and add things to the registry. Now I must preface our Macy's registry with the disclaimer that we put everything under the sun on there because we get a significant discount on the items after the wedding if they are not purchased and we decide to get them ourselves. It's a great thing.
So, after my evening with a zapping gun and after a return at H&M, I actually came out ahead: + $39 and an updated registry!
My next shopping craving will be fixed with a trip to Crate&Barrel. We haven't touched that list since February when we went to the registry event pretending to be serious about it, but really just went for the free food and goodies. Dude, if you tasted the waffles and mini quesadillas they had you wouldn't have done that much zapping either! =P
And to rid myself of the urge to buy anything online, I also updated our CB2.com registry. CB2 is by Crate&Barrel and features affordable, modern products. Think better than Ikea, slightly better than West Elm and the everday person's version of Design Within Reach or Modernica.
